As the Pro Kabaddi League gears up for its 12th season starting on August 29 in Vizag, U Mumba have created a buzz by unveiling a special jersey that pays tribute to their maiden championship triumph in 2015. The new kit, launched on August 22, carries forward the team’s trademark orange and black identity while incorporating modern design elements, including a symbolic nod to Mumbai’s Airport.
The jersey is not just a reminder of past glory but also a motivation for the team’s new campaign, a decade after their historic win under Anup Kumar. In preparation for the upcoming season, the franchise has invested in its most intensive pre-season training to date, a 50-day camp led by strength and conditioning coach Pratiek Ninawe, a former international sprinter.
The camp focused on mobility, strength, endurance, and sprint mechanics, pushing players beyond the 110 kg squat mark while sharpening agility and explosive power. Captain Sunil Kumar, who will lead the side this year, expressed pride in wearing the tribute jersey and emphasized his goal of combining the experience of seniors with the energy of youngsters to secure U Mumba’s second PKL title. With 111 league-stage wins and three consecutive finals in their early years, the team remains one of PKL’s most iconic sides.
