1. Chahal & Dhanashree's Divorce

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma divorced each other in March 2025. They were not living together from June 2022, and had separated within a few months of their marriage. Following this, in February 2025, both of them filed for a divorce in the Bombay High Court.

The proceedings continued on the matter, and eventually Dhanashree Verma and Yuzvendra Chahal got divorced from each other on 20 March 2025. The Bombay High Court was also able to speed up the same, as the cooling period in this case.

During the divorce talks, things were also discussed about the alimony. Chahal had to agree to pay Dhanashree Verma alimony of 4.75 crore rupees after the divorce had been finalised. This shows a hint of why Chahal about the statements of the Delhi High Court.

When Chahal and Dhanashree had their final court hearing, the Indian cricketer took the first dig at her. On that day, he wore a t-shirt which has ‘Be Your Own Sugar Daddy' written on it. Chahal also said that he wanted to convey a message to someone, and it has now been done with this shirt.

2. Chahal Breaking Silence After Divorce

Yuzvendra Chahal didn't make any public appearance, talking about the divorce for months. But eventually, he decided to open up about the same in a podcast. Earlier this year, Chahal was invited to a podcast by Raj Shamani, the famous Indian YouTuber. This is where the cricketer talked about the incident.

Chahal talked about the separation by saying, “It was going on for a long while. We decided we do not want to show the people. Who knew if it did not happen? Maybe it will become a different scenario. We were like until we reached a point of no return, we are not going to say anything. We will be like a normal couple on social media.”

Raj Shamani also asked Chahal if he was faking their bond during the separation period, to which he replied with a Yes. Chahal also went on to say that a relationship requires compromise from both ends, which shows the tensions between them rose due to a lack of compromise.

The Indian spinner said, “A relationship is like a compromise. If one gets angry, the other has to listen. Sometimes the nature of two people does not match. I was playing for India, she was also doing her. This was going on for 1-2 years.”

Chahal also said that he had suicidal thoughts after the divorce.

He further continued, “At that point, I was so much into it, I had to give time here, give time there. I was not able to think about the relationship. Then it happens every day, you think, leave it. Two ambitious people can stay together. Everyone has their own lives. Everyone has their own goals. As a partner, you have to support it. You are working for something for 18-20 years, you cannot leave it for a relationship.”

Chahal also said that he had suicidal thoughts after the divorce. He said, “I had suicidal thoughts, I was tired of my life, I used to cry for 2 hours. I used to sleep just for 2 hours. It went for 40-45 days. I wanted a break from cricket. I was so busy in cricket. I was not able to concentrate. I used to sleep for 2 hours. Used to share suicidal thoughts with my friend. I used to get scared.”
