Rohit Sharma and the pull shot are a match made in heaven, and the batter displayed that in the second ODI against Australia in Adelaide. The Indian opener smashed two sixes off Mitchell Owen, sending him into a dizzy, as he lost grip of the ball while running in for the last ball of the same over.

‌India had a struggling start at the Adelaide Oval after Australia captain Mitchell Marsh opted to bowl first in the second ODI on Thursday. Rohit Sharma, as in the first game, looked a bit rusty as he played out four overs of dot balls in the first six as the visitors reached 17/0.

But the good thing, as Ravi Shastri called on air, was that he was still there, taking it all in, even though he lost both Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli early on. And as it is with all great batters, Rohit slowly shifted gears to push the scoreboard swiftly after all his initial struggles.

The batter was 30 off 62 balls when Mitchell Owen came on to bowl his second over. He fell back to his go-to shot as he pulled the medium pacer for two classic sixes, off the first three balls, on the leg side.

He tried to compensate for his slow start as Owen looked clueless with the ease with which the batter was clearing the boundaries. The all-rounder breathed a sigh of relief as Rohit moved to the other end with a single in the penultimate ball.

But the horrors of the big hits didn’t seem to have left Owen as he dropped the Kookaburra while running in to deliver the last ball. The umpire duly called it a dead ball as he walked back to reload, with Shreyas Iyer sending him down the ground, this time, to finish the over with a boundary.

Twitter was in splits as Rohit’s pulverising pull shots sent Owen into a dizzy and forced him to lose grip of the ball.
