AUS vs IND | Twitter impressed with Starc’s composure as pacer shows admirable balance to pouch beauty

Fast Bowlers are often seen as pushovers on the field but Mitchell Starc had a point to prove in the second ODI against India in Adelaide on Thursday. The Australian pacer showed excellent composure to balance himself as he completed an excellent catch near the ropes to send back Axar Patel.

‌India had an uncharacteristic start after Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh put them in in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval on Thursday. Rohit Sharma looked rusty while captain Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli departed cheaply as India struggled to 17/2 after the first seven overs.

But Rohit dug deep, and along with Shreyas Iyer, pulled the Men in Blue out of the woods with a 118-run partnership for the third wicket. But both set batters left in quick succession after completing their half centuries, with KL Rahul also following suit as India slipped to 174/5.

However, Axar Patel kept the visitors afloat with a crucial knock and took them past the 200-run mark. Just as he tried to accelerate proceedings in the last six overs, he found an unlikely villain in Mitchell Starc who was manning the long-off boundary.

The all-rounder, who was on 44, went inside out against spinner Adam Zampa in an attempt to clear the ropes. He had to play away from his body as the googly went further from him after pitching on a length outside off stump. And as a result, he could not get much power behind the shot with Starc following the arc of the ball carefully.

Just as it looked like the ball would sail past the fielder and beyond the boundary, the pacer pulled out his bucket hands to complete the catch just above his head. But he was well aware of the ropes in close proximity as he perfectly put the ball up again while crossing the line.

He just put his foot back in and cooly took the rebound, much to Axar’s disappointment as the batter missed a well-deserved half-century. Twitter was in awe as the left-arm pacer didn’t express a glimpse of nerves as he executed a tricky dismissal.
