The match fixing claims have surfaced once again as the ICC has launched a probe into the same. This is regarding the T20 World Cup match between Canada and New Zealand at the Chidambaram Stadium. The main allegations come against the Canadian bowler, Dilpreet Bajwa.
It has been more than a month since the T20 World Cup came to an end. But the tournament still remains in question, as the ICC has started a probe related to the match fixing allegations. And these claims have been made for the clash between Canada and New Zealand, which took place at the Chidambaram Stadium.
New Zealand had a tough start to the game as they stood at the score of 35/2 in five overs. Following this, Dilpreet Bajwa was handed over the final over of the powerplay. He started the over with a no ball and a wide, and eventually gave 15 runs off his over. At that moment, no questions were raised on the same.
But the ICC noticed the matter and it seems that some major issues related to this match were kept in front of them. Due to this reason, the Anti-corruption committee of the ICC has started an investigation on this matter. It remains to be seen what actions will be taken against the team and Dilpreet Bajwa for the same.
Our Take
Dilpreet Bajwa conceding 15 runs in his over is considered as normal, since he is a part of an associate team. But the time at which it came has been questioned by the fans and even the ICC members. Now since the ICC has started a probe on this matter, new revelations are expected to be made out of the same. And it might even have a serious impact on Canada as a team.
