Anup Kumar: No immediate retirement plans

Indian kabaddi captain Anup Kumar has cleared the air over his retirement, saying that he was misquoted by the media and did not intend to quit immediately after the ongoing World Cup as has been widely reported. Kumar is the most recognizable face in Indian Kabaddi.
"I want to clarify I have no immediate plans of calling it quits from the international arena. What I said on Sunday was one day everyone has to retire but I am still fit enough to represent my country, so why should I?" Kumar was quoted as saying by IANS agency.
"As I said, there has been some serious miscommunication as there are no immediate plans (to quit) from my side," added the UMumba captain.
The Haryana-born star said his focus is on winning the World Cup.
"I don't think too much about the future, so the thoughts of retiring after this tournament have never crossed my mind. As of now, my sole focus is to win the Cup for the country. It will be such a huge boost for encouraging budding players to take up the sport as a career," said the PKL-1 MVP.
"The World Cup is such a great platform to showcase India's prowess in the traditional game."
India bounced back from their opening day defeat to South Korea with three successive wins to be placed second in their group and only need to avoid losing to England to qualify for the semi-finals.
