South Korea defeated England in their last group encounter to enter the knockouts as the Group winners with a 100% winning record. In the other group, Thailand got the better of USA and Kenya thrashed Japan for their second victory of the tournament.
Republic of South Korea, who started their campaign by defeating two-time champions India, strolled into semi-finals with a comfortable 56-17 win over England. In the last league encounter against the English, Korea put off another blemish less performance which could only be termed as riotous.
Collecting 31 raid points, the Korean side put England to the sword early on as they raced to a 7-0 lead. As hard as the European team tried they were unable to stop Cheol Gyu Shin, who ended the game with a Super 10 under his belt. With the win Korea cemented their position as Group toppers and will now play the second placed team from Group B in the semi-finals
In Group B, Thailand got the better of The United States by 69-22 in a completely one-sided encounter. Thailand ignited their chances of entering the knock-out by securing their third victory in the league overtaking Japan to end the day second on the table.
Thailand captain and raider Khomsan Thongkham scored 14 points, including one tackle point. Chanwit Wichian supported him really well with 12 raid points.
In the other game, Kenya secured a victory over Japan to send them to troubled waters. By securing 13 tackle points, Kenyan defender James Odhiambo Obilo created a new world record of scoring most tackle points in a single match. Japan will now face Thailand in the last group game with the latter needing to avoid defeat to progress to the semi-finals.
