Punjab Kings get off to a strong start in the powerplay, as Prabhsimran Singh finds some early boundaries. But soon enough he was removed by Mohammed Shami, putting Punjab Kings at the score of 45/1. Shreyas Iyer went on to anchor the innings with Marcus Stoinis, who helped by accelerating against the pacers.

The middle overs allowed Lucknow Super Giants to tighten their grip, as the team bought George Linde and Digvesh Rathi. Shreyas Iyer lost his wicket after scoring 52 runs. But, Shashank Singh and Marcus Stoinis made a late flourish, which helped Punjab Kings to post a total of 176/7.
