Injuries have affected Chennai Super Kings to a great extent in this season. The team already had players such as Dhoni, Nathan Ellis, and Dewald Brevis injured at the start of the season. Now with Khaleel Ahmed being ruled out of the tournament, CSK has eyed a former MI bowler as a replacement.

Chennai Super Kings is facing issues with their bowling line-up lately. Before the tournament, Nathan Ellis was ruled out due to an injury. And at the same time, MS Dhoni and Dewald Brevis were ruled out for the first few games of the season. While Brevis has returned, Dhoni is yet to play a game in this season.

And recently, Khaleel Ahmed also suffered an injury in Chennai’s clash against Kolkata Knight Riders. He has been ruled out of the tournament, with Chennai looking for possible replacements of Khaleel Ahmed in this case. The CSK CEO has told about his plans for the replacement, as some bowlers were spotted in the team's practice sessions.

One of them was Akash Madhwal, who has been a part of Mumbai Indians too. It is being reported that Madhwal is one of the key players which Chennai has targeted in replacement of Khaleel Ahmed. Still, it remains to be seen which player the team finalises for the same.

Our Take

Akash Madhwal will be a good option for Chennai Super Kings to replace Khaleel Ahmed with. It will also bring down some emotions, when the El Clásico clash takes place between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. If this happens, it will be Akash Madhwal in this game but in a different jersey colour. However, fans still don't have any idea who the other players are being tried by Chennai Super Kings as a replacement for Khaleel Ahmed.
