Kolkata Knight Riders have long been known for their spin prowess, and much of that credit goes to Varun Chakaravarthy’s brilliance. The Tamil Nadu spinner once again demonstrated his skill against the Rajasthan Royals, scalping both Dhruv Jurel and Wanindu Hasaranga with his deceptive turn.

‌A packed Eden Gardens had already witnessed the Andre Russell storm as his blistering 57 off 25 balls powered Kolkata Knight Riders to 206/4. In reply, Rajasthan Royals had a nightmare start with Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Kunal Rathore dismissed in the first two overs. With Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag at the crease, the visitors were struggling at 9/2 after two overs. However, Rajasthan recovered well. Parag launched a counterattack, pushing the score to 37/2 in four overs. Jaiswal soon shifted gears too, taking the total to 59/2 by the end of the powerplay. But the momentum shifted again when Moeen Ali removed Jaiswal in the seventh over, paving the way for Varun Chakaravarthy to take centre stage.

On the third ball of the eighth over, Chakaravarthy bowled a perfect googly—pitched outside off and spinning in. Dhruv Jurel came forward uncertainly, trying to block with his bat tucked behind the pad. The ball slipped through the gap and hit the off stump. Jurel looked caught between guiding it down to third man and playing a solid defense, but the hesitation proved costly. Wanindu Hasaranga walked in next, but he didn’t last long. Just one delivery later, Chakaravarthy unleashed another googly—this one fuller and wider. Hasaranga didn’t get to the pitch of it and missed completely as the ball spun in and crashed into the stumps. The Tamil Nadu spinner was overjoyed with a double-wicket over, jumping in celebration as the Twitterverse erupted in praise for his brilliance.
