As the Champions League approaches, Nicolas Jackson is preparing for a swift reunion with Chelsea after sealing a deadline-day loan move to Bayern Munich. The 24-year-old striker joined the German champions on a season-long deal, with Bayern paying £14.2 million upfront and a conditional £56.2 million obligation to buy at the end of the spell. Eligible under UEFA rules, Jackson is expected to feature when Bayern host Chelsea in 11 days’ time.
Speaking about the clash, Jackson expressed both excitement and determination, saying he is ready to give everything for Bayern while viewing the match as a chance to prove his growth. He admitted feeling bittersweet about leaving Chelsea, where he celebrated Conference League and Club World Cup victories. His departure followed Chelsea’s summer recruitment of Liam Delap for £30 million and Joao Pedro for £60 million, which created competition in attack and ultimately pushed Jackson to seek new opportunities.
While Harry Kane remains Bayern’s first-choice striker, Jackson’s versatility allows him to also operate on the left, where new signing Luis Diaz will be his rival. Despite Chelsea’s preference for a permanent sale, Bayern’s loan arrangement with a heavy purchase clause provided a compromise that could reshape Jackson’s career trajectory.
