Ashes | Twitter shocked as Smith brings sordid end to immensely lucky knock by succumbing to Labuschagne

If one had to sum up the incredible peaks and incredulous lows of Bazball, Jamie Smith's knock on Day 2 of the fifth Ashes Test at the SCG would do. The youngster played some incredible shots amidst multiple reprieves for his 47, only to succumb in the naivest of fashions to Marnus Labuschagne.

Australia began the second day of the New Year's Test at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground in uproarious fashion by scalping Harry Brook and Ben Stokes in quick succession to reduce England to 229/5 after the tourists had stitched a 169-run fourth wicket stand to go into the ascendancy. Nevertheless, with Joe Root still batting and the prodigous Jamie Smith walking out on a deck still decent enough to put up a big total on, hopes looked high for the tourists. The latter attempted his best to spurn all that away with some egregious shots, benefitting from getting out on a Cameron Green no-ball and surviving a chance through the cordon the very next ball, en route to 47 in a 96-run partnership with his veteran compatriot. However, just when England seemed set to go into Lunch with all the momentum, one last Jamie error spelled his doom and got the SCG back to its feet.
With less than half an hour to go till the break, Steve Smith brought on Marnus Labuschagne in the 75th over as Australia prepared their primary seam charges to take the new ball that would soon be available. The plan for Labuschagne was clear -- bang the ball short and hope for the best. With his first four attempts, he conceded two singles and sent one soaring over Jamie's head that was called a wide in what looked like the most non-threatening spell of bowling the English had faced for the entirety of the match, if not the series. Labuschagne ran in again and as expected delivered another bumper but this time Jamie created heaps of room for himself and slapped the red cherry towards the off-side. To his horror, the Surrey batter managed to pick out the only fielder in front of point on the offside perfectly, thus bringing an end to an adventurous knock and send Labuschagne wheeling away like they'd just won the World Cup.
Twitterati could not be more irked at the dismissal.

End the Cameron Green experiment now. He offers absolutely nothing to the Australian side.
Yeah!
That unlucky over sums up Cam Green at the moment.
— Daniel Garb (@DanielGarb)
He’s not in good form but he’s not a mile off it either. Things just aren’t going his way.
Very unlucky!
That sums up Cam Green’s summer

Yes!
Just hasn't been easy being Cameron Green this summer
— Jono Baruch (@JonoBaruch)
Haha!
Green literally has done no good for himself or the team in this series. Beyond embarrassing. He may as well wear an England shirt.

True!
Man nothing is going well for Green is it.
