Shafali Verma is now making her comeback to the Indian squad for the Women's World Cup. With the team going to the semi-final stages, they suffered a major blow due to the Injury of Pratika Rawal. In her place, Shefali Verma has been announced as the replacement.

The hosts of the Women's World Cup, India, will be playing their semi-final clash against Australia on 30 October. This is expected to be an intense clash, as Australia has already defeated India previously in the league stages. Moreover, the Indian team has gone for the semi-final of the tournament.

Shafali Verma is now a part of the team in place of injured Pratika Rawal. Pratika got herself injured in the clash against Bangladesh Women and didn't come out to open for the team. Taking a look at her injury, she got ruled out of the tournament and in her place, the BCCI has announced Shafali Verma as the replacement.

Whether it is scoring a century in her first edition or partnering with Smriti Mandhana for a record-breaking stand, she has done it all. Fans also had high hopes that they would be able to watch Rawal and Mandhana dominate in the semi-final stages. But that will not be possible now, as Rawal of the tournament.

Despite being ruled out of the tournament, Pratika has made her way to the top run scorers of the same. In the charts, she stands just behind Smriti Mandhana, having scored 308 runs in 6 innings at an average of 51.33, with a century and a half-century.

2. Rawal’s Injury

Pratika Rawal's injury came at the worst time for the Indian team. India was playing its final League stages clash against Bangladesh, and the match was affected due to rain. The outfield was mainly affected by these conditions, and Rawal was fielding out there for the team.

In an attempt to stop the ball, she fell down awkwardly near the boundary line. The team's support staff and medical team immediately came to the field and assisted Pratika Rawal to take her back to the pavilion. After being taken out, Rawal  for the team for the remainder of the game.

Following the match, she also went through some scans to check the seriousness of the injury. It was revealed that she has sustained a hairline fracture in her right ankle. Due to this reason, she requires three weeks of rest and is deemed unable to play for the Indian team. The BCCI has also remarked to the sources that the injury is not serious enough to have Rawal go for surgery.

3. Shafali Verma Comes In

With Pratika Rawal being ruled out of the tournament, the Indian team had to find a player who could replace her perfectly in the squad. And for this, the team went towards Shafali Verma, who has been one of the most aggressive batters for the team since her debut. The youngster has not played even a single game for the India Women's team since her last WODI appearance against New Zealand.

However, she has been able to perform well for the team in the India A games, which puts her in the eyes of the selectors. And taking a look at the injury of Pratika Rawal, Shafali Verma comes in as the best possible replacement for the team. While she has received fewer opportunities lately, performing well in the most crucial game in the World Cup could also help her to stage a comeback.
