The Indian Test team was earlier spearheaded by two proper Test batsmen, who were Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. Pujara has retired from international cricket, but Rahane remains open to being a part of the Indian team yet again. It has been since he played a game for the team.

Still, he has been able to perform well in the domestic tournaments, eager to prove himself to the selectors. Despite having 5077 runs in the Test format, Rahane has been snubbed from the Indian team for years. Recently, he also spoke about his exclusion from the Test team and how the communication gap between him and the selectors has increased over the years.

1. Rahane on His Exclusion

It has been more than two years since Ajinkya Rahane played an international game for the Indian team. Moreover, it should also be noted that he has not played for the India A team lately. While the Test team remains in the transition phase, Rahane is eager to mark his comeback to the Indian side.

He recently on his exclusion by saying, “I thought an experienced player like me should get more chances. There was no communication. I can focus on only the controllable things. Indian team needed me in Australia for BGT and I was fully ready for it.”

Rahane put more focus on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which was being played in Australia. Fans who have watched the last two BGT, which took place in Australia, would know how Rahane and Pujara played an important role in the same. in the Australian conditions was unmatched, due to which Rahane expected that he would be a part of the team.

During the India tour of England, Rahane was a part of the commentary panel. He was also asked by the fellow commentators about his intentions to be back on the Indian side. Rahane spoke positively about the same, saying that he has not given up hope for his comeback.

Ajinkya Rahane has been the star performer of the Indian team whenever the opposition is Australia. Rahane was also the skipper of the Indian team in the absence of Virat Kohli during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020/21. At that time, the Indian team secured its historic Gabba win, as Rahane stood as the skipper.
