1. Auction Rules
It is necessary for the fans to know deeply about the auction rules ahead of the IPL 2026 season. Before the auction, every team will have to submit their list of retention. The retention list will have a maximum total of 6 players from each team. Out of these, five must be capped and one must be uncapped.
Upon submitting the retentions, the teams will be able to proceed to the auction table. At this moment, the players who have been released will also enter the bidding. It should be noted that each team will also be given the Right to Match (RTM) card, which will allow them to retain two of their players.
on them will be given one final call to increase the same. And if the team with RTM agrees to it, the card will be used successfully. When it comes to the budget per team, it has been reported that the teams will have a total of 151 crore rupees to be used for the same. This will cover the retention list, auction, and other incentives to the players based on their performances.
However, it should also be noted that the rules of the auction can be changed. For this, fans will have to wait for the IPL management and the BCCI to bring out the rules for the upcoming auction. But within the next month, it is expected to see various surprise releases from each team.
