AUS W vs PAK W | Twitter in awe as Sidra Nawaz reminds MS Dhoni in flash of brilliance behind stumps

It is common to see stunning deeds behind the stumps being compared to MS Dhoni and Sidra Nawaz added one more to the list during the Women’s ODI World Cup match against Australia. The Pakistan wicketkeeper moved down to collect a wide bowl before whipping the bails off at the right time.

‌Pakistan Women gave a shock to Australia Women during their ODI World Cup group game in Colombo. After opting to bowl at the R Premadasa Stadium, the Women in Green had the Aussies reeling at 76/7.

Left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu picked three wickets, while Rameen Shamim had two as Beth Mooney held fort from one side. She got an ideal partner in Kim Garth, who ground out from the other side, to frustrate the Pakistani bowlers with a 39-run partnership.

Just as it looked like things were going south for the Women in Green, captain Fatima Sana reintroduced medium pacer Diana Baig into the attack. A fortunate Baig got her name into the wickets column, courtesy of an excellent effort from wicketkeeper Sidra Nawaz.

Keeping up to the wicket, Sidra showed impressive reflexes to collect a delivery that was fired way down the leg side. She, then, whipped off the bails in a flash, just at the right time, to catch an off-balance Garth shot of the crease.

The umpire first signalled a wide before the square leg official referred the appeal upstairs. Just as Garth tried to get back to the crease, the bails were nudged away by Sidra with her foot on the line.

Twitter was in awe of Sidra’s glove work as the Pakistan wicketkeeper once again reminded the cricketing world of MS Dhoni with her quick reflexes.
