IND vs WI | Twitter chants "frame the masterpiece" as Nitish Reddy pulls of incredulously aesthetic blinder

Playing a Test on home soil at 22 is an honour afforded to select few, and especially impressive for a seam-bowling all-rounder on Indian dust bowls. Nitish Kumar Reddy had little chance to impact game with bat and ball but made sure his presence was felt in Ahmedabad with an absolute screamer.

Nitish Kumar Reddy's first notable contribution to his maiden home Test was a two-handed diving blinder at short square leg against the West Indies in Ahmedabad

West Indies were left staring at a rout on Day 3 of the first Test against India in Ahmedabad as they headed into Lunch at 66/5, still 220 runs away from erasing the first innings deficit. The hosts had piled on 448/5 the previous evening, in response to the Windies' 162 on the back of centuries from KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, and Ravindra Jadeja, before declaring overnight to start afresh with the ball on Saturday. However, their task seemed to be sterner on the second occassion with rival openers Tagenarine Chanderpaul and John Campbell appearing much more composed on the crease but just when the duo seemed to be en-route to seeing out the new ball, Nitish Kumar Reddy appeared from thin air and disrupted all plans.

Mohammed Siraj was into his fourth over with the shiny new SG and began with a routing length delivery on off-stump that was comfortably defended by the open-stanced Chanderpaul. The right-arm quick thus decided to switch it up by sliding a ball on leg-stump around hip-high, but it only allowed the youngster to play what is usually his most productive shot, a simple push of the pads. However, the bounce on the ball meant it hit high on the bat and took air but the square leg spot was vacant so there was little risk. That is until Nitish Kumar Reddy shuffled to his left from backward mid-wicket and dove full-stretch with his arms extended, managing to grab the red cherry with both hands while practically parallel to the ground.

The Men in Blue immediately mobbed their latest fielding sensation to celebrate their opening breakthrough and Twitterati vicariously followed suit.
