Zimbabwe will host Afghanistan for one Test and three T20Is at the Harare Sports Club from October 20. The tour originally had two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs as per the Future Tours Programme, but Zimbabwe chose to focus on the shorter format with the upcoming T20 World Cup in mind.

‌After travelling to Zimbabwe for an all-format series during December-January 2024-25, Afghanistan will tour the African nation yet again in October to play a Test and three T20Is. The series, which earlier had two Tests, three T20Is and three ODIs as per the Future Tours Programme, was revised after the home side decided to focus on the shorter format ahead of the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka next year.
The tour will kick off with a one-off Test at the Harare Sports Club on October 20 before the three-match T20I series commences at the same venue on October 29.

Afghanistan emerged victorious across all formats in their last tour, winning the three-match T20I and ODI series 2-1 and 2-0, respectively. The Asian side also pocketed the two-match Test series 1-0, with the first match ending in a draw.

Afghanistan are in the midst of a gruelling schedule, which will see them playing 10 matches against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in 30 days. They stayed back in the United Arab Emirates after their Asia Cup T20 2025 campaign and will play a white-ball series against Bangladesh. They were also part of a tri-series in the gulf nation, alongside the host and Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe are currently playing in the African Regional Qualifiers for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Harare. A win against Kenya in the semifinal on Thursday will assure them of a spot in the marquee event.
