Just before the first Test against South Africa, India has made a major change in its squad. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, has been dropped by the team ahead of the first Test, and sent back for the other games. He will now feature in the ODI games against South Africa A.

Fans are waiting for the home tests to begin, as India is set to face South Africa on 14 November. At this time, there were predictions regarding who will be able to make it to the Indian team, but the BCCI selectors decided to turn the tables. And this player is none other than Nitish Kumar Reddy. The youngster has been called off from the Test squad for the first match. He will now be a part of India A’s team against South Africa A, for the unofficial ODIs. These ODI games are also set to commence from 14 November, the same date when the Test matches would begin.

1. Nitish Gets Released

Nitish Kumar Reddy was earlier a part of India's Test squad for the series against South Africa. He was also seen by the fans practicing with the Indian team for the Test series. But the BCCI has made some serious changes to its line-up ahead of the first Test, due to which Nitish Kumar Reddy

The first Test match will be played at Eden Gardens, and Nitish Kumar Reddy has been dropped from the squad for the same. Instead, his name has been added to the list of India A’s squad for the ODI series against South Africa A. This comes as a major change, as fans wonder who could take his place in the Test team.

2. Who Replaces Nitish?

With Nitish Kumar Reddy being ruled out of the first Test, who could possibly take his place. This question has been answered to the fans and media by the Assistant Head Coach of the Indian team, Ryan Ten Doeschate. He revealed that Dhruv Jurel will be playing in the team, as a for Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Doeschate , “Our position hasn't changed on Nitish. He didn't get a chance in Australia. But looking at the challenge here, I think he'll miss out from the XI this week. Very important to balance the batting depth and specialist bowlers. We don't want to sacrifice someone just to bring in an all-rounder for the sake of it.”

So, the major reason why Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the first Test is due to the squad combination. But this also brings another opportunity for the youngster, as he will be playing for India A in the ODI series against South Africa A. After the ODI series comes to an end, Nitish is expected to be back in the squad for the second Test.

It should be noted that Nitish Kumar Reddy was also a part of the team in the recent tour of Australia. But during the ODI series, he suffered an injury in his quadriceps. This resulted in Reddy missing out on the T20I series, was also affected by rain.

He further said, “I don't think you can leave him (Jurel) out of this Test. Someone will have to miss out. That's a simple answer. He is certain to play this week. I'll be surprised if we don't see Dhruv and Rishabh play together.”

3. India A Squad

Following the exclusion of Nitish Kumar Reddy from the first Test, he was given another opportunity in the ODI format. The BCCI has updated its squad for the first Test and also for the series against South Africa A. Nitish Kumar Reddy has now been to the squad for the India A vs South Africa A’s unofficial ODIs.

With the inclusion of Nitish Kumar Reddy to the team, India A will now be having an extra batting and bowling option at the same time. The team is being led by Tilak Varma, with Ruturaj Gaikwad serving as the vice captain. Several other players have also been given an opportunity to play for the team in the unofficial ODIs against South Africa A.

Fans will be able to watch the likes of Ayush Badoni, Abhishek Sharma, Manav Suthar, Vipraj Nigam, and a lot more, adding depth to the line-up. Ishan Kishan also marks his return to India A, as he has been named to the team as a wicket-keeper, along with Punjab Kings star, Prabhsimran Singh.
