The ICC has recently given out a Press Release on the Asia Cup 2025. With India and Pakistan matches turning out to be the most controversial, the board has taken some strict decisions. One Pakistani player has been handed a two match ban by the ICC.

The Asia Cup 2025 was fully surrounded with controversies. And the majority of them came in the matches between India and Pakistan. Both teams faced each other three times in the tournament, which also made it one of the most controversial Asia Cup tournaments

Regarding this, the ICC has taken strict actions on all the players involved. Haris Rauf, the Pakistani bowler, has been banned for two games, as he will be missing out on the ODI matches against South Africa. Other players have also served charges on the same, and could be suspended if further actions take place.

1. Asia Cup’s Controversial Era

The Asia Cup 2025 became one of the most controversial editions of the tournament. India and Pakistan already had strained geopolitical tensions, due to the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. Following this, the venue of the Asia Cup was changed and there were also calls to boycott the game.

But both teams played for the first time in the Group stages. After winning the game, Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube went back to the dressing room. The doors were then closed and no handshake took place between the two teams. Pakistan was also seen waiting for the Indian

In the ultimate final clash, India and Pakistan faced each other once again. This time, India was also actively sledging the Pakistani players. After taking the wicket of Haris Rauf, Jasprit Bumrah mimicked the jet gesture that he did in the previous game. It was clear that this Asia Cup delivered much more in action than just the bat and ball.

Recently, the ICC revealed its Press Release which had details about the Asia Cup. The major focus was put on the controversies which took place in the matches involving India and Pakistan. Since all the games turned out to be controversial, the image of the sport was being put at risk, due to which the ICC decided to take strict actions.

Arshdeep Singh was spotted mimicking Haris Rauf’s jet gesture and he put the jet on his back. This action was also reported to the ICC, but no severe actions were taken on him. Arshdeep Singh was not found guilty of his actions and was free to go and play games without

Haris Rauf has been affected the worst with his actions in the Asia Cup. He was fined 30% of his match fees and also given 2 demerit points for his actions in the group stage matches. Along with that, his actions in the final match had also cost him 30% of his match fees and 2 demerit points. With the demerit points going to 4, Haris Rauf has been suspended by the ICC for two matches.
