Match Report

After opting to bat first, North Delhi Strikers lost their first wicket in Arnav Bugga (18) at the team score of 26 runs in the fourth over. However, Sarthak Ranjan and Yash Dabas stabilised the innings with an amazing 52-run partnership for the second wicket. Dabas fell prey to Pradyuman Sanan’s quicker yorker in the ninth over, after scoring 27 runs off 20 balls, with two fours and a six. Sarthak stood there in the middle and kept neutralising the losses with some brilliant boundaries. He went on to play a decisive knock of 61 runs off 38 balls, with seven fours and two sixes. Later in the innings, Pranav Rajuvanshi’s 33-run knock, followed by Gagan Vats’ (12) short efforts, helped the Strikers post 175/7 in the allotted 20 overs. Pankaj Jaswal and Rahul Chaudhary scalped two wickets each for the Tigers, alongside a wicket picked by Sanan.

The Tigers had a quick start of 34 runs for the first wicket in just 4.1 overs by the opening pair of Shivam Gupta and Lakshay Thareja before the former was caught by Rajuvanshi off Harshit Rana’s bowling in the fifth over. Gupta scored 25 runs off 18 balls, with four fours. In the next over, Thareja was also dismissed at the individual score of 17 (13). Following the two quick dismissals, Himmat Singh and Dhruv Kaushik stitched a match-defining partnership of 43 runs for the third wicket. This partnership was mainly led by Himmat, with some amazing fours and sixes. Kuldip Yadav played a crucial role in giving his side a breakthrough by dismissing Kaushik (14) in the 11th over. After Kaushik’s departure, Himmat added another match-winning partnership of 43 runs for the fourth wicket with Pranav Rajuvanshi. His match-winning knock came to an end after scoring 62 runs off 40 balls, with six fours and two sixes. Rauvanshi also scored 33 runs off 24 balls, with four fours and a six. Later, around the end of the innings, the unbeaten contributions of Parth Bali (24*) and Pankaj Jaswal (16*) helped the Tigers cross the line in 19.2 overs, scoring 176/6. With this win, the Tigers have also qualified for the tournament’s playoff stage.
