Table Tennis | Manika Batra and Gnanasekaran Sathiyan rise to career best rankings

India currently has only one woman paddler in the top 100 ranking of the Table Tennis. After the latest rankings were made public, Manika Batra improved by two spots and was at the 53rd position in the women’s singles rankings. This position also happens to be the best ever career ranking for the 23-year-old youngster who had recently won mixed doubles bronze in the Asian games partnering Sharad Kamal which won his first ever medal for India. She also won four medals in the commonwealth games which included a gold in the women’s singles category. 

In the men's category, Gnanasekaran Sathiyan also moved to his career-best 35th ranking. He had won three medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and a team bronze at the 2018 Asian Games. However, Sharath Kamal, who won the team Gold at the Commonwealth Games, a silver in men's doubles and bronze in the men’s singles category, stuck to his 31st position on the leaderboard. Sharath Kamal is also the top-ranked men’s player for India in the ITTF rankings.
