IPKL 2019 | Bangalore Rhinos beat Pune Pride to lift the trophy

Bangalore Rhinos have won the title in the inaugural edition of the Indo-International Premier Kabaddi League (IPKL) as they won the final against Pune Pride on Tuesday. Bangalore defeated Pune by 42-38 points and was crowned the winners at their home venue – Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

Much to the delight of the local fans who were present at the venue for the final of the first edition of the IPKL, the hosts had a good start to the summit clash against Pune Pride. However, at the end of the first quarter, Pune had a lead of two points against the Karnataka-based side as the scorecard read 9-7 in Pune’s favour.

The second quarter, however, was the phase when the home team asserted dominance against Pune. The team from Bengaluru collected as many as 14 points in the second quarter and had a lead of 21-15 at half-time.

With the third quarter being the most-competitive one and evenly-poised, Pune tried their level best in the final quarter to match to Bangalore’s game. However, the Maharashtra-based side fell short by just four points and Bangalore were crowned the winners as they won the summit clash 42-38. Vishal’s 11 raid points in the match helped him win the Man of the Final award.

In another game of the evening, Chennai Challengers defeated Diler Delhi to finish third in the competition.
