Frank Lampard Rejects Rangers to Stay Committed to Coventry City

Rangers approached Frank Lampard for their managerial role after sacking Russell Martin, who won just one of seven league matches. However, Lampard refused talks, choosing to remain at Coventry City. Since taking charge in 2024, he has guided Coventry to an unbeaten nine-match Championship run, scoring 27 goals and pushing for Premier League promotion.

In the latest twist to Rangers’ managerial search, Frank Lampard has reportedly rejected an approach from the Scottish club, choosing instead to stay committed to Coventry City. According to journalist Alan Nixon, Rangers were keen to bring in Lampard after sacking Russell Martin, who endured a disastrous spell at Ibrox with just one win in seven Premiership matches and an early Champions League exit.

The club, taken over by 49ers Enterprises earlier this year, had also considered a return for Steven Gerrard, but the former boss declined the opportunity, having previously led Rangers to an unbeaten Premiership title in 2021. Lampard, meanwhile, has impressed since taking over Coventry in 2024, replacing long-serving manager Mark Robins. Under his leadership, Coventry reached the play-offs last season and remain unbeaten in nine Championship games this term, scoring an impressive 27 goals during that run.

His attacking style has made Coventry one of the most exciting teams in the division, and Lampard appears determined to guide them back to the Premier League for the first time in over 20 years. With both Gerrard and Lampard turning them down, Rangers will now have to explore alternative managerial options for their fifth permanent boss since 2021.
