Marcus Rashford has revived his career at Barcelona with nine goal contributions in ten games this season under Hansi Flick. The Catalan club plans to activate his £26 million clause, while Manchester United, despite his contract running until 2028, have no plans to bring him back. Rashford also prefers staying in Spain.
When the 2025-26 season began, few expected Marcus Rashford to thrive away from Old Trafford, but his resurgence at Barcelona has silenced all doubts. The English forward, on loan from Manchester United, has already produced nine goal contributions this season, including three goals and five assists in just ten appearances under Hansi Flick.
Rashford even netted his first LaLiga goal in a 4-1 defeat against Sevilla and has now been directly involved in a goal or assist in each of his last eight matches for club and country. According to reports from TBR Football, Barcelona are eager to trigger the £26 million clause to make his move permanent, while Rashford himself has no desire to return to Manchester. Despite being under contract until 2028, United have no plans to offer him a second chance, marking the end of an era for their former academy star.
Meanwhile, fellow ex-United forward Rasmus Hojlund is also excelling after joining Serie A champions Napoli, where he has impressed the club hierarchy despite having no path back to Old Trafford. With both Rashford and Hojlund flourishing elsewhere, United appear content to look ahead under Ruben Amorim’s new system.
