Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim acknowledged the club’s past mistakes after Cristiano Ronaldo’s remarks that Amorim couldn’t perform miracles. The Portuguese boss urged focus on rebuilding, highlighting changes in structure and player mindset. United, who finished 15th last season, have improved recently, winning three of their last four league matches.
Doing the right thing and focusing on the future is what Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim emphasized after Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent comments about the club. In an interview with Piers Morgan, the 40-year-old Al-Nassr striker claimed that Amorim could not work “miracles” at a club that “lacked structure” and was “not on a good path.” Responding ahead of United’s Premier League clash with Tottenham, Amorim admitted the club had “made a lot of mistakes in the past” but stressed they were changing the structure, culture, and player mentality to move forward.
Since taking charge in November 2024, Amorim guided United to the Europa League final but missed out on the title and Champions League qualification after losing to Tottenham. United finished 15th last season, their worst league finish since 1973-74, despite spending over £200 million in the summer.
After a poor start this season, including a shock Carabao Cup exit to League Two side Grimsby Town, United have recently improved, winning three of their last four league matches, including a crucial victory over Liverpool. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has backed Amorim, stating the Portuguese coach needs three years to prove his worth as United look to rebuild after years of instability.
