Reports | Manchester City considering a move for Milan Skriniar

Premier League Champions Manchester City are eager to sign defensive reinforcements as soon as possible, and the club have identified Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar as an ideal choice. The recent chain of injuries has left Nicolas Otamendi as the only senior defender in the City squad.

According to the Express, Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola is now looking at Milan Skriniar to solve Manchester City’s defensive problems. While Guardiola will have to wait until January to sign some new recruits, it is clear that Slovakian International Skriniar is at the top of his list. Considered to be one of the best young defenders in Serie A, Inter Milan will not be ready to part with their star man quite easily and will fight with the Cityzen’s financial might to keep him at the San Siro.

The injury crisis will also allow Guardiola to make a huge splurge in the transfer market, despite new Nerazzurri manager Antonio Conte repeatedly saying that the 24-year-old centre back is not for sale. Manchester City were interested in Milan Skriniar during the summer transfer window as well, but could not snatch him away from Inter Milan and now the transfer window is over.

The Cityzen’s lack of depth in defence has now been terribly exposed, with John Stones out with a thigh problem while Aymeric Laporte had a knee operation recently, after damaging his cartilage and lateral meniscus against Brighton last weekend. The exit of Vincent Kompany without any replacement has also affected the squad depth.
