IND vs NZ | Twiiter reacts as Shreyas Iyer returns like he never left with dazzling run-out to rock Kiwi boat

Injuring for an Indian international incumbent is always filed with jeopardy given the amount of talent waiting in the fringes to claim any spot that becomes available. However, Shreyas Iyer's record meant he slotted right back in after missing the previous series, and took little time to show why.

‌India restricted New Zealand to 300/8 in the first ODI on a good batting track at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Sunday, despite half-centuries from Devon Conway, Henry Nicholls, and Daryl Mitchell. The former two stitched togeter a 117-run stand before wickets crumbled in quick succession and the visitors collapsed to 198/5. However, Mitchell partnered with Michael Bracewell to get proceedings back on track with a 39-run opening stand, the highest of the entire innings barring the opening effort. Yet, just when they seemed set to propel the Black Caps to a big total, Shreyas Iyer produced a moment of magic on the field to dismantle all such hopes.

Returning to international action for the first time since October last year when he had injured his spleen attempting a catch in an ODI against Australia, Iyer was stationed at long-on wheen Harshit Rana steamed in to bowl the final ball of the 43rd over to Mitchell. The quick executed a perfect yorker that the batter somehow managed to dig out and sprinted towards the other end, calling Bracewell back to two. Alert and quick on his feet, Iyer wasted no time in rushing from the boundary, and in one smooth motion the veteran picked up the ball before firing a one-handed throw at the non-striker's end. The white rock travelled at a fearsome velocity and struck timber, trapping Bracewell just short of the crease to end what could have transpired into an immensely threatening stand.

The Men in Blue streamed towards Iyer to celebrate a phenomenal bit of fielding, and Twitterati followed suit.
