Delays in play are nothing new in cricket, but a young boy caught the stewards unaware as he intruded into the field of play in the Big Bash League game. The Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat game was paused for a while before the guards surrounded the intruder and took him out for play to resume.

‌The Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat game in the Big Bash League was on the knife-edge before an uninvited guest gave some respite to players stepping onto the field of play in Coffs Harbour. After being put into bat, the Heat endured a batting collapse at the International Sports Stadium and managed just 114/9 in the first essay.

And the home side also had a similar struggle in their chase, slipping to 56/7 inside 11 overs, making the game an interesting watch. The pair of Joel Davis and Hayden Kerr kept the Sixers afloat with a valuable stand as they needed a further 49 runs in the last seven overs.

With the game heading towards a nervy end and medium pacer Jack Wildermuth running in to bowl the next over, a young kid made his way into the middle, forcing him to stop halfway. The boy went straight to Davies, presumably with a selfie request, before the batter politely asked him to leave.

He continued to roam freely in the park before the guards surrounded him and cordoned him off from the playing area. Davies was surprised as he shared a laugh with wicketkeeper Jimmy Peirson before play resumed.

Twitter was surprised how the boy entered the heavily secured area and had a free ride for a couple of minutes before he was taken off.

He was just walking!
