Kevin Pietersen and Alastair Cook have been against each other lately. While Cook thinks Bethell must return to England, Pietersen doesn't want it to happen. Amidst all this, Lalit Modi has voiced his opinion in the favour of Kevin Pietersen.

Alastair Cook and Kevin Pietersen have been on the headlines for a while now. Cook, former England opener, said that Jacob Bethell is wasting his time in the Indian Premier League. He also said that Bethell must return to England and play for Warwickshire, rather than sitting in the IPL on the bench.

But at the same time, the one to go against him at this moment was Kevin Pietersen. He tweeted against Cook, saying that he (Cook) doesn't know the worth of the Indian Premier League, since he has not been a part of the tournament. This matter has now received a new turn, as Lalit Modi, the founder of the IPL, has stepped into the same.

He tweeted by saying, “Let’s see who votes for what ? I will tell you for sure @ipl can never lose. He goes his loss. Someone else will take his place and he will be banned for two years I am told if no show according to new rules of ipl. He will be replaced with thousands on waiting list. He stays he wins so.”

Our Take

The words of Lalit Modi in this matter come out strongly in the favour of Kevin Pietersen and the IPL. It is true that the IPL will find some other better player if Jacob Bethell decides to listen to Alastair Cook and join Warwickshire for the County Championship. This is the tournament where more players go unsold than the ones who were able to find a team.
