Is This the Weakest SRH Bowling Line-up in Recent Years?

SRH are surely not having a good time in the IPL lately. Even though their batsmen have done well in this season, the bowlers have caused a lot of challenges. Former Indian cricketer, Kris Srikanth, also talked about the team's bowling line-up and predicted how they could win the upcoming games.

‌It has been almost 10 years since Sunrisers Hyderabad last managed to win the IPL finals. Almost 10 years back, the team's bowling line-up was strong, having players such as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mustafizur Rahman, Ben Cutting, Moises Henriques, and many more. But now, the team is struggling to even win matches after scoring 200 runs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad has played four games in this season and managed to win just one of them. All of the remaining three games have resulted in losses, where the bowling line-up failed to deliver. If someone takes a look at their batting line-up, it has stars such as Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, and more.

But looking at the bowling side, the team lacks depth and experience. They have players such as Harsh Dubey, Eshan Malinga, Harshal Patel, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, which highlights the main weakness of the team. This has also been the reason why the team didn't win two games even after scoring 200+ runs in their innings.

SRH Bowling Woes

The start of the season has not been a good one for Sunrisers Hyderabad. One of the key reasons behind the same is the team's bowling woes, which started with the unavailability of Pat Cummins. He was already going through rehabilitation since the Ashes, as fans wait to see when he gets cleared to play.
According to reports, Cummins visited Australia for the final tests to take place. These tests will determine whether he is set to participate in the remainder of the season or he will be missing out on a few more games. In his absence, Ishan Kishan is leading the team but the bowling woes continue.

After yesterday's match against Punjab Kings, their weakness has been exposed more. Kris Srikanth, a former Indian cricketer said, “SRH can win only if they score 500 with this bowling attack. You can’t do anything with this bowling. It’s not even up to the level of the first division.”

Earlier Bowling Dominance

Sunrisers Hyderabad was known for having one of the finest bowling lineups earlier in the Indian Premier League. Bhuvneshwar Kumar led their bowling line-up for the majority of his IPL career but he was eventually released by the team after the IPL 2024 season. Now he is a part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, a team which is the defending champion this season.
Rashid Khan was also a prime bowler for the team, who used to lead their spin attack. He played for them from IPL 2017 to 2021, where the team even reached multiple playoffs and finals of the campaign. A bowling line-up where Bhuvneshwar Kumar is leading the pace attack and Rashid Khan is leading the spin attack was deadly for the other teams.

Along with that, several other players were also a part of the team's dominance with the ball. This also includes T Natarajan, who has done well in the current season with the ball for Delhi Capitals. Karn Sharma and Sandeep Sharma were also a part of the team for several years, but they rest in some other teams right now in the IPL.

How can Bowling Woes be Solved?

Sunrisers Hyderabad will surely be looking forward to some ways in which they can solve their bowling woes. One of the players who could help the team to a great extent is Brydon Carse. He is an English pacer who the team brought for just 1 crore rupees in the auction. In place of Cummins, his inclusion could have helped the team to some extent.
Along with that, Sunrisers Hyderabad also has some key names such as Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat this time, who have been prominent in the IPL. If these two bowlers are able to find their rhythm back, it would be eventful for SRH to make a comeback. And for Pat Cummins, it is still unknown when he would make a comeback for the team.
