Age is just a number for Kieron Pollard, and he showed that yet again during the Caribbean Premier League 2025 match between Trinbago Knight Riders and St Lucia Kings. The former Mumbai Indians all-rounder gave a cold reaction to the batter after getting hit on the helmet while fielding up close.

‌Trinbago Knight Riders had a disappointing outing against St Lucia Kings after being the first side to qualify for the playoffs of the Caribbean Premier League 2025. The home side lost to the Kings by seven wickets in a low-scoring game at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.

Left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi bowled an impressive spell of 3/12 in four overs to skittle out the Knight Riders for 109 in just 18.1 overs. The visitors, led by Tim Seifert’s 19-ball 36, cantered past the target with 53 balls to spare. But Kieron Pollard, after a struggling innings of 14 off 17 balls, rolled back the years as he tried to get under the skin of the Kings batter Ackeem Auguste.

With the visitors racing to 26 and Sunil Narine getting Johnson Charles out in the last ball of the second over, Pollard decided to play mind games with new batter Auguste. The former Mumbai Indians all-rounder stationed himself at short leg, but Akeal Hosein bowled short and into the southpaw’s body, who responded with a full-blooded pull shot.

The ball rammed Pollard’s helmet grill, but he shocked the batter with his reaction as he immediately got back on his feet and gave a cold smile with folded hands. Then he exchanged words with the batter, who responded with a laugh, before the physio rushed in to check on him. The 38-year-old former West Indies player showed what he was made of as the cricketing world acknowledged his passion and spirit.

That familiar smile!
