With the BCCI selectors announcing the squad for the home series against South Africa, will Gaikwad be able to make his comeback to the Indian team? 1. Ruturaj Gaikwad in Ranji Trophy 2025/26

The new edition of the Ranji Trophy has just started, and within two games, players have started to make their mark. While all the batsmen have been giving their best, Ruturaj Gaikwad is also in the list, eager to catch the attention of the selectors. Playing for Maharashtra, he has been scorers of the tournament with his performances.

In the first match, Maharashtra went against Kerala and had a tough start. The team was put down at the score of 4/5 when Ruturaj Gaikwad stood at the crease. Even at such a challenging situation, he played a fine knock of 91 runs, missing out on his well-deserved century. This helped Maharashtra to reach a stable score in the first innings, despite having a top-order collapse.

The bowlers were able to do a great job, bowling out Kerala for just 219 runs. Maharashtra came out to bat in the second innings, and Gaikwad again showcased his masterclass. He ended up scoring 55 runs off 81 balls, before the match ended in a draw. With his brilliant performances, Gaikwad the POTM award in this game.

Maharashtra is currently going against Chandigarh in its second game. And once again, Gaikwad has impressed the fans with his consistency. He ended up scoring 116 runs off 163 balls in the first innings of the game. And this was also followed by 36 runs off 35 balls in the second innings, which has put the team in a strong position.

2. Gaikwad’s Earlier Domestic Dominance

It is not like Ruturaj Gaikwad is playing well for the team lately. Over the past few months, he has given some tremendous performances in the domestic format, which looks good to open the doors for him to the Indian team. His consistency in the Duleep Trophy in the semi-final match between West Zone and Central Zone.

When the team stood at the score of 2/10, Gaikwad went on to score 184 runs, which put them in a strong position. Only two batters, except him, were able to cross the 50-run mark for the team, as West Zone scored 438 runs in the first innings. The match ended in a draw, but Central Zone won the game, having a better score in the first innings.

3. Gaikwad's India A Knocks

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been a part of the India A team for the first-class games. But he has not been able to make it to the Indian side till now. With his performances in the Ranji Trophy, fans expect the selectors to take a look at him for the upcoming home Test series against South Africa.
