Injuries are a part of the game, but sometimes, there are moments in a match when injuries leave the players and fans in an awkward and weird situation. A similar incident happened in the ongoing Bangladesh Women vs. Sri Lanka Women game in the Women’s World Cup 2025. This moment forced the physios of both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka rush to the ground, stopping the action of the game for few minutes.

The incident happened on the second ball of the 47th over, when Udeshika Prabodhani was facing Sobhana Mostary. Prabodhani missed the ball, and it went on to hit the Bangladesh wicketkeeper and skipper Nigar Sultana, who was positioned near the wickets. But what unfolded in the same moment left everyone shocked and it was Sri Lanka batter Udeshika Prabodhani getting injured without even touching the ball. Subsequently, the physios of both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka camp rushed to the ground to check with their respective injured players.

Speaking of the action of the game, Sri Lanka Women won the toss and decided to bat first, facing their first blow on the first ball of the innings’ first over. Vishmi Gunaratne fell prey to Marufa Akter in an LBW on a golden duck. However, her dismissal was followed by a 72-run partnership for the second wicket between skipper Chamari Athapaththu and Hasini Perera. Athapaththu scored 46 runs off 43 balls, with six fours and two sixes, followed by Perera’s brilliant knock of 85 runs off 99 balls, with 13 fours and a six. Later in the innings, Nilakshika Silva also scored 37 runs off 38 balls, but none of the other Sri Lanka Women’s batters touched the double-digit mark as an individual score. Eventually, SL Women have been bundled out at the score of 202 runs in 48.4 overs. Shorna Akter scalped three wickets for just 27 runs in her 10 overs, including four maiden overs, alongside two wickets picked by Rabeya Khan. Besides these two, Marufa Akter, Nishita Akter Nishi, and Nahida Akter also claimed two wickets each for their side.
