The 19th game of the ongoing Women’s World Cup 2025, between Pakistan Women and New Zealand Women, ended without a result due to rain interruption. In the rain-reduced game, Pakistan were asked to bat first by New Zealand, and the former had scored 92/5 in 25 overs before played spoilsport.
Pakistan Women and New Zealand Women took on each other in the 19th game of the ongoing Women’s World Cup 2025, but it ended in a way that neither team would have expected. The rain interruptions at regular intervals finally forced the officials to call the match off without any result. In the 25 overs before the game was called off, New Zealand won the toss and asked the Women in Green to bat first.
Batting first, Pakistan faced a first blow at the team score of 30 runs in 6.4 overs, losing Omaima Sohail (3) off Lea Tahuhu. In a quick succession of just three balls, at the same score, Muneeba Ali (22) fell prey to Jess Kerr, getting caught by Suzie Bates on the first ball of the eighth over. Following the departure of both the openers within a span of four balls, Sidra Amin (9) and Aliya Riaz added 22 runs for the third wicket. This partnership ended when Amin was caught by Eden Carson off Tahuhu on the second ball of the 13th over. Meanwhile, it was the first time that rain interrupted the game and reduced it to 46 overs after the game was resumed. Following only a few overs after the resumption of the game, rain ruined the play again, and now the game was reduced to 36 overs. As the game resumed, Aliya Riaz and Natalia Pervaiz (10) took charge for Pakistan, and they stitched a partnership of 24 runs for the fourth wicket. Pervaiz’s shorter stint ended when she was caught by Sophie Devine off Eden Carson in the 19th over. In the end, Aliya Riaz went unbeaten with the individual score of 28 runs off 52 balls, with three fours, alongside Sidra Nawaz (6*) when the rain interrupted for the last time. Lea Tahuhu scalped two wickets for 20 runs in her six overs for the White Ferns, alongside a wicket each picked by Jess Kerr, Amelia Kerr, and Eden Carson.
Eventually, the game was called off without any result as the action couldn’t be resumed this time due to heavy rain, and both teams had to share a point each for this game.
The fans also looked disappointed after another game of the ongoing Women’s World Cup 2025 was ruined by rain and ended without any result or action.
