Cricket fans have heard of the phrase, “Some 90s are better than centuries.” But this phrase came true once again, and this time in the Women's World Cup. Richa Ghosh missed out on her century in the match against South Africa Women by 6 runs. But her knock remains vital for the team,

With this, Richa Ghosh has also joined an elite list of Indian players to score 90s in the World Cup. This list is not just having players who scored 90s; these are the knocks which saved the team to a great extent.

1. Richa Ghosh’s 94 vs South Africa

In the ICC Women's World Cup 2025, India and South Africa faced each other in the 10th game. India didn't have a good start with the bat, despite the openers setting up the game. The team stood at the score of 102/6 by 26 overs, when Richa Ghosh stepped in to bat.

She stood at the other end watching the other players lose their wickets. Eventually, the team stood at the score of 153/7 by 40 overs. That's the time when Richa Ghosh took command. She went on to score 94 runs off 77 balls with 11 fours and 4 sixes, to help the team reach a competitive total.

from Sneh Rana on the other side. She missed out on a well-deserved century by losing her wicket to a full toss, which was just 4 centimetres below being a no-ball. However, her knock went in vain, as India lost the match by 3 wickets.

2. MS Dhoni’s 91* vs Sri Lanka

When talking about some valuable 90s, the knock played by MS Dhoni can not be forgotten by any Indian fan. It was a spectacle match because India played against Sri Lanka in the World Cup final in 2011. Sri Lanka entered to bat first in this match and accumulated 274, at the cost of 6 wickets.

On its part, India made no good start, where Tendulkar and Sehwag were taken out early in the game and left the team at 31/2. Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli have managed to keep the team at pace, but Kohli eventually lost his wicket, where he was able to score 35 runs.

Gambhir and Dhoni looked comfortable but to score a boundary, Gambhir also lost his wicket. But being the skipper, Dhoni took the command and went on to score 91 runs off 79 balls, being not out in the finals. Fans cannot forget the lines of Ravi Shastri, “Dhoni finishes off in style.”

3. KL Rahul's 97* vs Australia

KL Rahul, who scored a useful knock against Australia in the 2023 World Cup, made another entry in this list. India started by playing its first game of the tournament against Australia and began with some fine bowling. This saw Australia being bowled out at a very low 199, so that India was allowed an easy target to follow.

Trying to catch up, however, was not easy with the Indian team. Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were all dismissed sharing a duck, and the team was at 2/3. This was when KL Rahul partnered with Virat Kohli. They both formed a 4th-wicket stand of 165, which placed India in a positive position.

KL Rahul wanted to finish the game and complete his century. But unfortunately, he scored 6 runs in the final delivery of the game, missing out on his well-deserved century. For his knock, Rahul also received the Player of the Match award, helping India to win from a top-order collapse.
