It has been reported that after the dinner, four players from Australia A had issues with their health. Along with that, the young bowler, Henry Thornton, was also hospitalised for some time. This has put forward some serious questions not just for the BCCI, but also for the Landmark hotel.
BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla was also present in the city. Taking a look at the situation, he decided to assess the problems within the hotel. To this, ,“If there had been an issue with the food, all players, including the Indian team, would have fallen sick. They are being served meals from one of the finest hotels, Hotel Landmark. The food is excellent and everyone is eating the same.”
Although the food samples have been sent to the higher authorities, the trust of the Australian players might not be good when it comes to the Indian restaurants. This is not the only incident which shows why Kanpur should not host matches; there are plenty of others.
The second Test match of the Bangladesh tour of India series was also played in Kanpur. It should also be noted that this was the last official game played within the city. And it also came to an end
During the match, it was spotted that the Bangladeshi fan was being taken out by the police. According to some reports and claims, the fan said inappropriate things to the Indian supporters, due to which the Kanpur public started assaulting him. As the matter escalated, police also intervened and took the injured to the hospital.
After the treatments, the Bangladeshi fan claimed that he was beaten by the fans in Kanpur. But the police took him for further investigation in this matter. Later, he was also released by the police, after all the investigation was done,
The statement said that the fan fell down due to dehydration, and he was not beaten by any fan. Various cricket analysts and fans say that the Bangladeshi fan might have been forced to say that nothing serious happened in the crowd.
