ZIM vs SA | Twiteratti shocked as Burl’s willow splinters into pieces at Burger's behest

The bat-breaking moments are always intimidating for the batters as it goes to show the pace and ruthlessness of a bowler. Zimbabwe middle-order batter Ryan Burl experienced this while facing Nandre Burger in Harare on Sunday as he lost a piece of his willow while trying to keep the Proteas out.

Zimbabwe's innings started horribly in the fourth match of the T20I tri-series as they kept losing wickets in short intervals against the Proteas. The gosts were struggling at 55/3 after 10 overs  when some respite arrived from Brian Bennet and Ryan Burl, who formed an important partnership to get them out of trouble. Nevertheless, the South African bowlers came back with a couple of more strikes to seize back momentum as Bennet was knocked over after a well-composed half-century in the 16th over of the game. Nandre Burger also returned to the attack with another breakthrough for the Rainbow Nation, the 17th over bowled by him a sheer spectacle of fast bowling.

The right-arm quick was hitting top speeds and he showed that in the first delivery itself, which was a well-directed yorker to Burl who ended up getting an inside edge. This delivery also resulted in Burl changing his bat since he lost a piece of wood trying to keep the Kookaburra out from penetrating the stumps.  Burger ended with a great spell, finishing with figures of 1/20 in his full quota of four overs.

The fans enjoyed the display of raw fast bowling by the young pacer in the match.

It is the bowler's job to make the batters uncomfortable at the crease and make scoring runs look difficult.
