Phil Salt can bat, he can keep wickets, and he can field just as he showed during The Hundred Men’s 2025 game between Trent Rockets and Manchester Originals. The Originals’ skipper came up with a special effort, diving full-stretch to pull off a blinder in Nottingham on Wednesday.

‌Trent Rockets continued their unbeaten run at home in The Hundred Men’s 2025 campaign with a clinical seven-wicket win over Manchester Originals at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Wednesday. Captain David Willey’s excellent spell of 3/11 with the new ball, along with Rehan Ahmed and Sam Cook’s two-wicket hauls, restricted the visitors to a modest 98/8. Rehan then shone with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 45 off 35 balls to take the Rockets to 101/3 with 26 balls to spare.

The Originals captain Phil Salt had a forgettable day with the bat as he struggled throughout during his 20-ball 19 with a solitary boundary. However, he had something to cheer for as he pulled off a stunner on the field to dismiss Max Holden during the chase.

After both openers departed in the space of three balls, with the score reading just 22, Rehan and Holden steadied the ship with a 39-run stand that saw the Rockets close in towards a comfortable win. However, Salt’s superlative effort saw Holden walk back for an 11-ball seven.

With Josh Tongue bowling a slower delivery on a good length around off stump in the third ball of the 10th over, the left-handed batter was lured into the drive. But he ended up playing the shot early as the ball ballooned to the right of Salt, who was stationed at mid-off. The ball had almost flown past Salt in what looked like an imminent boundary, but the Originals’ opener had other ideas.

He went fully airborne as he dived full-length to his right to pouch the ball from behind his body. There was a moment of silence before the crowd, and the batter came to terms with his effort. Holden was in disbelief as Salt just grabbed the ball out of thin air, just like an eagle catching its prey.

He completed a single-handed stunner before rolling over to be back on his feet and smiling at his teammates who ran in to appreciate the super-human effort.

Stunning Salt!
