South Delhi Superstarz outplayed Purani Delhi 6 by a big margin of 46 runs in the 25th game of the ongoing Delhi Premier League 2025. Sumit Kumar Beniwal’s sensational and match-winning five-wicket haul (5/19) played a central role in bundling out PD6 to a low total while chasing.

Purani Delhi 6 won the toss and asked the South Delhi Superstarz to bat first. However, this decision backfired on them as the Superstarz’s opening pair of Ankur Kaushik and Anmol Sharma stitched a swashbuckling opening partnership of 70 runs in just 6.4 overs. It all started with Ankur Kaushik smashing nine runs off Rajneesh Dadar’s first over, hitting two fours, followed by a single on the last ball. The fourth over, bowled by Aayush Singh to Anmol Sharma, turned out to be a game-changing over in the powerplay for Superstarz. Anmol smashed 21 runs in this over, hitting two sixes and a four, including a double on a no-ball. With their swashbuckling approach, the SDS openers posted a huge score of 68 runs at the end of the powerplay phase. In the seventh over, Pardeep Parashar broke this partnership by getting Ankur Kaushik caught by Pranav Pant on the fourth ball of the over. Kaushik scored 21 (17), with two fours and a six before his dismissal. After Kaushik’s departure, skipper Ayush Badoni joined Anmol to add 25 runs for the second wicket before Badoni fell prey to Lalit Yadav at the individual score of 19 (10). Anmol continued hitting the boundaries to neutralise the impact of the two wickets his side lost. Before getting dismissed by Lalit Yadav in the 14th over, he contributed with a brilliant knock of 58 runs off 37 balls, with five fours and three sixes. Later in the middle order, Kunwar Bidhuri’s quick 22 (13) and Vision Panchal’s late burst of 31 runs off just 18 balls helped the Superstarsz post 184 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Lalit Yadav was the best bowler for PD6, scalping three wickets for 24 runs in his four overs, alongside Dadar’s figures of 3/30 in four overs.

While defending the target, Superstarz’s star pacer, Sumit Kumar Beniwal, brutally destroyed the top and middle order of Purani Delhi 6. The trio ran through the PD6’s top and middle and left them in trouble with the score of 23/5 at the end of powerplay, with none of the top five batters reaching a double-digit individual score. At the end powerplay, Beniwal scalped three wickets, alongside a wicket each picked by Bharti and Khandelwal. In the eighth over, bowled by Khandelwal, PD6 lost Sarthak Pal in quick succession just after an addition of five runs to their team score. However, Lalit and Ekansh Dobal tried their best to put in a resilient effort, with a 46-run partnership for the seventh wicket. This partnership was also ended by SDS’ star of the day, Beniwal, as he dismissed Lalit Yadav (22 runs off 28 balls, with a six). Furthermore, Dobal stitched another crucial partnership of 51 runs for the eighth wicket with number nine batter Rajneesh Dadar (15) before the latter was dismissed as the fifth wicket of Beniwal’s five-wicket haul in the 19th over. Dobal’s valiant efforts and fighting knock of 63 runs off 42 balls, with seven fours and three sixes, came to an end in the last over when he was caught by Beniwal off Khandelwal’s bowling on the third ball of the over. Eventually, PD6 were bowled out at the score of 138 runs in the entire 20 overs. Apart from Beniwal’s five-wicket haul (5/19), Khandelwal’s four wickets for 31 runs in his four overs also played a game-changing role in South Delhi Superstarz’s 46-run win over Purani Delhi 6.

Sumit Kumar Beniwal won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his brilliant five-wicket haul as he claimed five wickets for just 19 runs in his four overs, with an economy rate of just 4.75.
