Watch, The Hundred | Rashid Khan sends shock waves around Birmingham with audacious snake shot

Cricket and Golf are similar in the way the swing of the hands comes into play, and Rashid Khan blurred the differences further during a Hundred game. The Oval Invincibles all-rounder pulled out his trademark snake shot against Birmingham Phoenix pacer Tim Southee to leave the audience stunned.

‌Liam Livingstone came up with an unbelievable knock of 69 off just 27 balls to steer Birmingham Phoenix to their first win in The Hundred Men’s 2025 campaign. The England all-rounder smashed five sixes and seven fours, including a 26-run over off leg spinner Rashid Khan, to power the hosts to a four-wicket win over Oval Invincibles at Edgbaston on Tuesday.

His knock overshadowed a 29-ball 63, including six sixes and four fours, from Donovan Ferreira that guided the Invincibles to 180/8 in the first innings. The New Zealand pace duo of Trent Boult and Adam Milne, along with medium pacer Benny Howell, picked up two wickets each for the home side. Livingstone’s stunning assault meant the hosts reached 182/6 in the chase with two balls to spare, while pacer Saqib Mahmood ended with figures of 3/28 in 13 balls.

Though Rashid was off colour with the ball, conceding a whopping 59 runs in his 20-ball spell, he came up with an enterprising cameo with the bat to surge the visitors’ total. He scored 16 off nine balls, hitting two sixes during his stay at the crease.

After pulling Adam Milne for a six over square leg in the last ball of the 17th set, Rashid took aim at Milne’s former countryman Tim Southee in the next. Standing deep inside the crease and showing all three stumps, Rashid tempted the former New Zealand pacer to aim for the timber off the last ball of his spell.

Southee fell for the trap as he went full around off and middle stump, with the Afghanistan all-rounder pulling his bat down in a flash. There was no foot or body movement as he sent the pacer over square leg with a golf-like swing.

The bowler was stunned, but it was bread and butter for Rashid as he smiled and walked towards his partner. Though he has played his trademark snake shot for a while now, this looked the best of the lot as he made the right contact and sent the ball soaring with ease.

What was that!
