India pulled off a stunning six-run win over England in the fifth and final Test at The Oval to square the five-match series. A sneak peek into the Indian dressing room gave a first-hand experience of the roller-coaster that the support staff went through before finally tasting victory.

‌India pulled off an unbelievable performance against England on the final day of the fifth Test at The Oval in London to pull off a thrilling six-run win. Pacer Mohammed Siraj led the visitors’ stunning comeback with three wickets to finish with figures of 5/104 to restrict England to 367 during an enthralling hour of play.

After being bowled out for a below-par total of 224, the Indian side was never given a chance to level the five-match series. But the side’s indomitable spirit came to the fore as Siraj, in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, led the pace attack to skittle out England for 247, after being at a commanding position of 175/3, in the first innings. The Hyderabad pacer again showed heart to mastermind England’s collapse as the home side slipped from 301/3 to 367 all out.

The Indian dressing room was a mirror image of what transpired on the field on the final day of one of the most memorable matches in the recent past. As England started the day with two boundaries and the target got trimmed to 27, hopes were on the edge of turning into agony.

But Siraj brought them back into the game with two wickets in his first two overs, as the support staff were back on their feet right behind the team. Every play and miss was cheered, with adjustments to the field being suggested from above. Though they were away from the field, the heart was right there as the crew acted as the perfect 12th man.

Prasidh Krishna castling Josh Tongue heightened the decibel levels before Siraj dealt the host the last blow to trigger wild celebrations. Head coach Gautam Gambhir was pumped up as he tightly hugged his assistants Sitanshu Kotak and Morne Morkel.

There was noise, there were smiles, high-fives exchanged, and the odd happy tears too flowed in. It was absolute cinema as the dressing room went through a roller coaster of emotions, along with their players, in another magic episode churned out by Test cricket.

Absolute Cinema!
