DC vs KKR | Twitter erupts as Karun Nair gifts birthday boy Russell a four as Rahul facepalms

Birthdays always carry a touch of magic, and sometimes a slip-up from the opposition turns into an unexpected present. That’s exactly what happened for Andre Russell on his 37th birthday, as a misfield by Delhi Capitals’ Karun Nair handed him a free boundary, leaving KL Rahul visibly annoyed.

‌Delhi skipper Axar Patel's decision to bowl first backfired as KKR openers Sunil Narine and Rahmanullah Gurbaz launched a fiery start, racing to 48/0 in just 2.5 overs. Despite losing wickets to spin in the middle overs, including Narine, Rahane, and Venkatesh Iyer, KKR maintained momentum with contributions from Rinku Singh and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, reaching 142/4 by the 14th over. Chameera later removed Raghuvanshi in the 17th over to give Delhi a late breakthrough. Additionally, when Andre Russell walked in to bat, he was gifted an early reprieve thanks to sloppy fielding by Karun Nair.

On the third ball of the 19th over, Chameera fired in a full delivery right on the tramline outside off, clocking 142.9 km/h. The Jamaican batter reached out and flung his bat at it, slicing it cleanly toward deep cover point. Karun Nair got across but approached from the wrong side, attempting to gather the ball. It clipped his right thigh and spun away to the boundary, with Nair unable to recover in time. The Karnataka batter was visibly frustrated, while his fellow state-mate KL Rahul could only respond with a facepalm. The moment didn’t go unnoticed, as Twitter lit up with reactions.
