‌IND vs NZ | Twitter reacts to Glenn Phillips' snorter extends Kohli's Test drought after nine-ball duck

Every day is a new beginning, stirring fresh thoughts to inch closer to success. Indian stalwart Virat Kohli might have had a similar thought on the morning of the second day of the first Test against New Zealand, but a tremendous catch from Glenn Phillips spilled water into his plans.

After no play on the first day of the Bengaluru Test against New Zealand, the rain gods bestowed mercy as the day got brighter with Toss taking place at 8:45 AM IST. The coin favoured the Indian captain Rohit Sharma who opted to field first as a long-term plan despite the overhead conditions. Soon, they fell prey to the new ball lateral movements with Tim Southee and Will O’Rourkee gaining added advantage. Rohit Sharma failed to solidify his stay for long before Kohli followed suit with him in what could be a horrific dismissal.

After eight dots in his brief stay, Kohli tried to tap a back of a length delivery from O’Rourkee who used the over the wicket angle. The ball nipped back in sharply and Kohli ended up incurring an inside edge towards the leg slip fielder. Glenn Phillips there judged the trajectory of the red cherry in quick time and leaped forward with the palms right underneath the ball. It sat firm in his fingers with Phillips completing yet another scintillating grab. Although the umpires took their time to confirm the fairness of the grab, the TV umpire’s final verdict left Kohli dejected as he trudged off the field with yet another low score in Tests, prompting the Twitterverse into a frenzy.

 Kohli gone!
