Scouting is an important part of cricket tournaments and quite often it works with talents rising to the fore. Mumbai Cricket never falls short of talents with Mohammad Juned Khan being the latest addition as he outsmarted Maharashtra’s domestic captain Ruturaj Gaikwad as his maiden scalp.

Trying to extend their runs on the third day’s morning session, double-centurion Sarfaraz Khan failed to make a mark with the No. 11 Juned. Mukesh Kumar’s pin-point precision helped the Rest of India bundle the Mumbai side for 537 before Ruturaj Gaikwad and Abhimanyu Easwaran made their way to the crease. However, the former’s stay at the crease was cut short by a  Mumbai debutant who announced himself in India’s domestic circuit with a seed.

Following a couple of overs opening spell, Juned was summoned after the tenth over by captain Ajinkya Rahane. He bowled a good length delivery attacking the off peg from over the wicket on the second ball of the particular spell where Gaikwad tried to pat at it. However, the ball deviated a tad bit from the original trajectory to nick the outside edge en route to the slip cordon where Prithwi Shaw made a good reflexive grab. Making a mark with his debut wicket for Mumbai, Juned was ecstatic and gestured for keeping faith in him by pointing towards the dressing room.

Maiden wicket!
