Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj joined an elite list of cricketers to have gathered a ten-fer in an innings of a first-class match. He removed Shaun Roger to conclude Kerala’s collapse and complete a ten-wicket haul in the ongoing fourth round of the Ranji Trophy, making ito an elite list.

Kamboj earned a couple of wickets on the first day of the ensuing Ranji Trophy encounter between Kerala and Haryana before claiming six wickets the next day. With the other four bowlers failing to grab a wicket, it came down to the 23-year-old to complete a ten-fer on the third day with Shaun Roger as the final wicket.

Finishing with exquisite figures of 30.1-9-49-10 at the Chaudhary Lal Singh Stadium, Rohtak, Kamboj became the sixth Indian bowler to snare a ten-wicket haul in a Ranji Trophy innings. The five others are Bengal's Premangsu Chatterjee and Rajasthan's Pradeep Sunderam, Karnataka’s Anil Kumble, Maharashtra’s Subhasis Gupte, and Odhisha’s Debashish Mohanty. Although there are ninety cases of bowlers picking up all ten wickets in a first-class innings, England’s Jim Laker, New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel, and Kumble are the three bowlers to achieve the feat in Test cricket.

Having made his first-class debut in February 2022, Kamboj fast-tracked into the Indian Premier League with solid performances across formats for Haryana. The Mumbai Indians roped him during the 2022 IPL mini auction where the pacer bagged a couple of wickets from three appearances.

At the time of writing, Haryana have lost five wickets for 100 runs in 38 overs and still trailing by 191 runs at Stumps day 3.

Special moment!
