As per a Cricbuzz report, Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shahrukh Khan was engaged in a heated debate with Punjab Kings co-owner Ness Wadia in the IPL owners and franchise meet in Mumbai. The debate revolved around the number of retentions allowed for the mega-auction ahead of IPL 2025.

A mega-conference took place today for the IPL 2025 mega auction and the rules to follow. With plenty of franchise owners attending the meeting in Mumbai, while others joined via virtual method, the discussion focused on the number of retentions per team and the RTM availability, among others.

However, it is learned that the 2024 Champions KKR owner Shahrukh Khan was against releasing a huge number of players. On the contrary, Punjab owners were against the retention of players, and amidst the discussion, Khan engaged in a brutal exchange with PBKS owner Wadia.

Among the owners, Kavya Maran of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sanjiv Goenka of Lucknow Super Giants, Rupa Gurunath of Chennai Super Kings, Kumar Grandhi of Delhi Capitals, Manoj Badale of Rajasthan Royals and Prathmesh Mishra of Royal Challengers Bangalore were all present on site. However, the Ambanis, owning Mumbai Indians, attended the meeting via virtual method.
