Madhya Pradesh beat Delhi by seven wickets and 27 balls to spare to reach the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Finals against Mumbai. A disciplined bowling effort from Madhya Pradesh curbed the Delhi Cricket team to a below-par 146 runs total before Rajat Patidar’s quick fifty blew the opposition away.

Eyeing the final’s spot, Madhya Pradesh won the toss and elected to field first. The new ball bowlers kept the opposition openers under pressure within the powerplay before Tripuresh Singh got the better of Yash Dhull in the sixth over. In an over’s space, Priyansh Arya fell to Kumar Kartikeya and Ayush Badoni failed to convert his start as well. With the middle order failing to resist the MP attack, Venkatesh Iyer’s two-over yielded a couple of more wickets before Anuj Rawat and M Rawat’s cameos steered them to 146/5 in 20 overs.

In reply, MP top-order fell prey to Ishant Sharma’s viscous new ball spell as he removed Arpit Gaud and Subhranshu Senapati early in the innings. However, Harsh Gawli kept the scoreboard ticking with an 18-ball 30 before Harpreet Singh Bhatia and Rajat Patidar took control of the chase. The pair orchestrated against the spinners during the middle overs watchfully before Patidar switched gears. He smoked a couple of sixes against Suyash Sharma in the 14th over to propel to 125/3. The pair clobbered 18 runs off the next over, leaving four runs to chase with five overs left. Eventually, Harpreet smacked a six on the third ball of the following over to seal the deal and help MP reach the finals of SMAT against Mumbai.
