Following his recent announcement of retirement, former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has joined the Legends League Cricket. The 38-year-old shared the news in a video posted on his social media on Saturday, officially declaring his retirement from all forms of international cricket.
The former India star shared that he feels at peace with his decision to retire but is enthusiastic about joining his former cricketing peers in the Legends League Cricket. He is excited to continue captivating fans with his batting prowess and to forge new experiences.
In his statement, Dhawan remarked, “I’m excited to reconnect with my cricketing friends and keep entertaining my fans as we create new moments together.”
In an emotional video posted on his social media handle, the southpaw reflected on achieving his dream of representing Team India at the highest level. Through his career, Dhawan played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 69 T20Is for India, establishing himself as one of the elite modern openers and contributing to some of the country’s greatest victories.
The Delhi bred now joins former teammates, including Robin Uthappa and Harbhajan Singh, in the Legends League Cricket. The next edition of this highlight event is set to take place in September this year.
