RCB vs SRH | Twitter stunned as Dinesh Karthik smashes Klaasen's record with gargantuan 108-meter hit

It is ironic how sports of all domains keeps proving time and again age is just a number and if the antics of the likes of MS Dhoni weren't enough, Dinesh Karthik further proved the age-old adage on Monday. The RCB veteran struck the season's longest six so far during a sensational blitz.

‌Royal Challengers Bengaluru put forth a valiant effort with the bat at the Chinnaswamy to get within 40 runs of Sunrisers Hyderabad's record total of 287/3 under the floodlights. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis gave the hosts early impetus with flying starts but a flurry of wickets after the powerplay ensured there was no historic run chase on the cards. Nevertheless, Dinesh Karthik helped the team save some face in front of its supporters with a boundary-laden knock of 83 from just 35 deliveries late into the game, including a season-record 108-meter six to begin the 16th over.

T Natarajan steamed in to kickstart his third over and fired in a yorker on the leg stump to keep his fellow Tamil Nadu veteran at bay. However, the 38-year-old anticipated the tactic and rocked exceptionally deep into the crease with both his feet within the white line. As the ball dropped onto the pitch, Karthik venomously swung with disdain and the ball rocketed off his willow into the night sky. The Kookaburra seemed destined to clear the stadium but eventually thudded against the roof and landed back on the playing surface while the big screen read 108 meters.

Following Heinrich Klaasen's 107-meter hit earlier in the day, Karthik's mammoth strike now holds the record for the longest six of the season so far and unsurprisingly had Twitterati ecstatic.
